Topco Names Two Vice Presidents

July 2, 2008

Topco Associates LLC has named Audrey Jakel v.p. of human resources, and Steve Schmitchel v.p. of TopSource, Topco's not-for-resale program.

A 25-year human resources veteran, Jakel has overall responsibility for Topco's employment practices, policies, procedures, training and recruiting as well as facilities management. She will report directly to Steven K. Lauer, Topco's president/c.e.o.

Prior to joining the company, Jakel was ACNielsen's s.v.p./human resources, where she oversaw employment, training and development, compensation, and employee relations in the United States.

Schmitchel, meanwhile, was elevated to v.p., TopSource from his former director of sourcing post. In his new capacity, Schmitchel, who will report to s.v.p. Dave Picarillo, will lead the execution and implementation of Topco's healthcare initiative. Having been with TopSource, Topco's not-for-resale program, for nearly four years, Schmitchel will have overall responsibility for TopSource's management and customer development program.

Topco provides procurement, quality assurance, packaging, and other services exclusively for its member-owners, which include supermarket retailers, wholesalers, and foodservice companies.
