Giant Eagle Offers Double Fuelperks with Eyeglasses, Contacts Purchases

Giant Eagle “eyes” more eyecare business with 20-cent gasoline discount promotion on purchases made within Giant Eagle Optical centers.

Aug 25, 2008

In a bid to boost traffic at its four optical centers, Giant Eagle said it is promoting a 20-cent-a-gallon gasoline discount at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations for every $50 spent at Giant Eagle Optical.

The doubling of the fuelperks! rewards offer applies only to out-of-pocket totals of purchases made in the grocer's optical centers.

Launched in October 2004, Pittsburgh's market leader currently runs four optical boutiques in the Pittsburgh area; North Hills-McIntyre Square, South Hills-Donaldson's Crossroads, East-Monroeville, West-Robinson. The stores accept most major vision plans and offer a wide variety of designer frames as well as exclusive giant eagle brands.

Staffed mostly by ABO certified opticians, Giant Eagle Optical is the chain's own full-service eye care company with on-premise doctors, over 1500 frames, and a finishing lab. Giant Eagle Optical was formerly known as Visura Eyecare.

Giant Eagle operates 223 locations, 158 of which are corporately owned and 65 that independently-owned, throughout Western Pennsylvania (98), Ohio (121), Northern West Virginia (2), and Western Maryland (2).
