Mitchell Grocery Corp. Outsources EDI

Sept 26, 2008

Wholesaler Mitchell Grocery Corporation, based in Albertville, Ala., has outsourcing its electronic data interchange system, with its eye on cost efficiencies as it expands its roster of trading partners.

Mitchell's chose Edict Systems as its outsourced provider, to help its serve more than 250 independent supermarkets in the Southeast.

"Mitchell's has experienced reduced costs and significantly expanded the number of trading partners we communicate with electronically," said Doug Masters, Mitchell's director of IT.

The wholesaler said it will move all EDI-related processes, including data translation, trading partner connectivity, and supplier onboarding, to Edict's Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings. The move should help Mitchell's reduce paper-based transactions and the number of errors associated with manual document processing.

With EDI outsourced, Mitchell Grocery said it would be able to use internal resources for other value-added IT-related projects.
